What exactly is wrong?

In response to the Give and Take Writing Assignment

Topic:

Write a post based on the contrast between two things — whether people, objects, emotions, places, or something else. Today’s twist: write your post in the form of a dialogue.

She: So you never showed up last night. Where were you?

He: I didn’t want to go out. I was tired.

She: Too tired to even pick up your phone and call?

He: I didn’t think my presence was important enough at that event. I mean, you told me like a day before. So why does it matter whether I was there or not?

She: Well, it was important to me.

He: Oh yea? Why don’t you tell me an hour before the next time? I’d love to run right to you.

She: Are you really gonna do this? Not show up and then not even apologize about it?

He: I have nothing to apologize for. I could not make it in the short notice I was given, nor was I interested in being there anyway.

She: Oh, there it is! If you weren’t interested in being there “anyway” then why does it matter whether I tell you a day before or a week before, huh?

He: Because I am tired of being dragged around. I want to spend my time doing things I like. Why do I always have to show up to what’s important to you when you have never showed up to any of music practices?

She: Oh, is this what this is about? Am I supposed to miss my work to see you chase after a useless dream?

He: Useless? Well then that is why I didn’t show up last night. Because your “important” work event was useless to me!
