[Dec 19] What made me smile today?

Date: Dec 19, 2014

Introduction

“The Smile Project” is about focusing on the happy things in life and making the effort to record and remember them. By the end of this project, I hope to have a huge list of things that made me smile at some point in life. You can join as well. 🙂

My Bouquet of Smiles for Today:

1) The Winter Leaves:

It was so hard to get out of bed today. For some reason, even though I fell asleep on time, I felt very tired in the morning. I wished it was Saturday so I wouldn’t have to get up and go to work. Unwillingly, I woke up, got ready and headed out. As soon as I walked out the door, I noticed what I call, “The Winter Leaves” and it immediately made me smile. As I started walking, I noticed that all trees looked the same. Today I feel like I walked through a Winter Wonderland. Take a look 🙂

Can you see the winter leaves? :)) #snow - Dec 20, 2014

2) The Attempt to be Simple:

Technical people always wonder why Apple products sell so much when don’t even have many features. It’s because of simplicity. If we can make an awesome product, why can’t we make it simple? Today, I tried to use the same approach for graphing. Every time I added a new effect to my graph, I asked myself, “How can I say the same thing much more simply?” I was happy that by the end of the day, I had created a much simpler graph conveying the same information as the one I had started with but with much less commotion. My efforts to learn to convey something in a simple way made me happy. I am sure Steve Jobs is looking down at me and saying, “You are on the right track.” haha

3) A Thoughtful Dinner:

On days I am very tired, I tend to choose the canned soup option. That’s what they are there for – backup dinner lol. I managed to roast potatoes but didn’t have the will to cook anything. After much thinking, I found the fish in the freezer and decided to wait another 20 mins to bake it and eat dinner. The spicy fish, beans and overly salted potatoes made a wonderful dinner. 🙂

4) The Winter Photography:

Yay yay yay!! lol!! When I was going to work this morning, I was hoping that the trees would remain the same throughout the day so I could take pictures on my way back. They did remain beautiful and I did manage to slip my hand in and out of gloves very quickly to shoot pictures.

Today’s Conclusion

Today’s conclusion is simple: When you are tired, go to sleep.

❄ Thanks a lot for reading. 🙂 ❄

Have an awesome day/night ahead,

IshKishMish <3

  2. Stunning picture!! Of course the line is leading to the picture 😀
Well do you have any autumn pictures as well?!

  3. You have a very beautiful walk to work! I hope it isn’t very far from where you live though. My daughter use to live in Alaska and when the trees were like that she said it was called “hore frost.” I am sure your graphs from Excel are perfect. You are right, the simpler the better! I use to work with Excel a lot. But that has been about 10 years ago. Yum! Your dinner sounds very delicious! When do you get to go see your family for Christmas?

Leave a few smiles!
